We always considered our clinic to be very successful, but we recognized we were better clinicians than business owners. For the longest time, we were certain we could work hard enough to overcome our business ignorance. Essentially, our clinical excellence had gotten us so far that we believed we could avoid the business side of things and count on our clinical prowess and dogged work ethic to make up for our lack of business knowledge. Eventually, we reached a point where what we knew just couldn’t take us any further. We had received about a hundred mailers from a company called FYZICAL inviting us to an event, so we decided to take them up on it – after all, it was a free event – so what did we have to lose?

We were blown away by PT Revolution and aligned with FYZICAL in March of 2015. Our first step was to begin fixing inefficiencies in our business by implementing the strategies we were taught. We finished 2015 at $523,631 in revenue, but most importantly, we laid an important framework for future growth. In 2016 our business grew by almost 20% (19.6%) and we grossed $626,203. However, the most notable improvement in 2016 was becoming 10x more profitable than the previous year! FYZICAL taught us how the 7 steps to reducing cancellations, and our cancellation percentage from 20% down to 6%. Before we learned these techniques, we had no idea how much money was walking out the door… or, in our case, canceling before ever walking in.

Once we became more efficient, we added a top notch balance and fall prevention program which has been an incredible source of additional referrals.

This January we set a record with 135 referrals, a 48% increase over January of last year! With a record setting start to the year, we are confident that we will hit our projected budget, which calls for us to gross over $1 million in revenue at a projected profitability of 30% this year.

Our success is an example of the magic of franchising. There seems to be this idea floating around that ‘those franchisees are suckers,’ but nobody pushed us or twisted our arm to become franchisees. We saw it as an opportunity to team up with thousands of the best clinical and business minds in the industry, and here we are, more successful than ever – and we don’t feel like suckers at all.

  • 2017: Our budget for this year is $1.1M with $322K profit.

As a member of FYZICAL, we’ve been able to develop our business into a valuable asset worth a multiple of its profitability, instead of a business that used to be worth the value of our used equipment. In the process, we’ve received sage advice that has helped us achieve a better work-life balance.

All of this started because we were brave enough to admit that we might not know everything about running a PT practice. It was humbling, but we did it, and as a result, we’ve been able to achieve a level of success and personal fulfillment we never could have achieved on our own.
